About Us

Greater San Francisco Ad Club began in 1906 as the Advertising Club of Oakland. Although the name has changed, the purposes have not. The club is the oldest continuously operating advertising club in the West, if not the United States.

Our Mission

Our mission is to act as a unifying voice for the area's advertising professionals. We strive to encourage, promote and develop truth and honesty in advertising; to widen the public knowledge of the social and economic services of advertising; to further understanding and knowledge of advertising in general among students and provide assistance and encouragement to those students interested in the advertising industry; and, to provide a convenient means whereby advertising professionals may meet to network and discover new and improved techniques in the art and science of advertising.

GSFAC supports education, diversity and worthwhile causes, recognizes creative excellence and, at the same time, members share like interests in a warm and enjoyable trade association environment. We are the AAF affiliate member in the seven SF Bay Area counties; Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo and Solano. As the “Unifying Voice for Advertising,” the American Advertising Federation, headquartered in Washington, D.C., represents 50,000 professionals in the advertising industry. AAF’s 130 corporate members include advertisers, agencies and media companies that comprise the nation's leading brands and corporations. AAF has a national network of over 200 clubs and connects the industry with an academic base through another 200+ college chapters.
